The eagle-i Consortium, made up of nine institutions across the United States, is building a national research discovery network. The network is intended to help biomedical researchers quickly find resources they need that may be at other institutions including technologies, animal models, equipment, cell and tissue banks, and training opportunities. The N.I.H. funded consortium is making the "invisible" visible to researchers. It is an exciting project that can move research forward. The nine institutions are Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Jackson State University, Morehouse School of Medicine, Montana State University, Oregon Health and Science University, University of Alaska Fairbanks, University of Hawaii Manoa, University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus.
Our involvement: design the eagle-i logo, design the website. We created the introductory flash introduction for new visitors, the animated home page and the sub-page designs. A blog on the home page keeps the content up-to-date, and the site will rapidly get larger as more tools and research resources are added. Content and IT integration were done by our friends at eagle-i. It was a collaborative effort, for a very collaborative initiative.
